ABSTRACT
THE ROLE OF FUND ACCOUNTANTS IN COMPLIANCE AUDITS is the focus of this study, with objectives to examine their responsibilities, the challenges they face, and their impact on audit outcomes. A survey design was selected for its ability to gather detailed information from a large sample of professionals. Using Taro Yamane's formula, a sample size of 360 respondents was determined, ensuring the data's reliability and accuracy. The research is conducted in Abuja, where regulatory compliance and audit activities are prominent. The survey instrument's reliability coefficient score was 0.89, indicating high reliability. Findings reveal that fund accountants play a crucial role in ensuring compliance, identifying audit issues, and facilitating communication between auditors and fund managers. However, challenges such as staying updated with evolving regulations and managing the extensive documentation requirements were noted. The study recommends continuous professional development, adoption of advanced compliance tools, and increased collaboration with regulatory bodies to enhance the effectiveness of fund accountants in compliance audits.
